Kent (AP) - The creator of the over-the-top Fox television show "Family Guy" has donated $30,000 to put his Connecticut hometown over the top in a fundraiser.

Organizers of a golf benefit say Seth MacFarlane made the donation this week for the Don Gowan Memorial Hoops Court.

The all-weather outdoor court next to the playground and kindergarten wing at Kent Center School will provide local basketball players the kind of facility they've never had until now.

It's named in honor of Don Gowan, who taught and coached for decades at the private Kent School. He died while jogging last year.

MacFarlane went to both Kent Center and Kent School where he graduated in 1991.
