John Pierson - Sports anchor

John Pierson became the Sports Team 8 Weekend Anchor in the fall of 2001.

Pierson, a Connecticut native, first came to News 8 in 1995 as Sports Producer and has worked on numerous Connecticut sporting events including Pilot Pen Tennis, The Buick, now Travelers Championship, UConn Football and the UCONN men's and women's NCAA championships.

A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, Pierson has earned several New England Emmy Nominations for his work. He won a 2002 New England Emmy Award for a report on the troubled youth of former UConn basketball player Caron Butler.

Prior to his start at News Channel 8 in 1995, Pierson worked in production at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut.

John Pierson is the father of four children.
