Branford (WTNH) - A Branford man has been arrested after fleeing from police and crashing into a civilian car and two police cruisers.

Police say 27-year old Travis Smith blew a red light on East Main Street. Smith kept driving when police tried to pull him over and sideswiped a car at the intersection of Route 139.

Smith finally stopped after crashing into two police cruisers. He was charged with reckless driving, engaging officers in a pursuit, operating under the influence of liquor and/or drugs, operating under suspension and evading responsibility.

Officer Josef Herten did suffer minor injuries as a result of the crash.
