Montville (WTNH) - Dozens of volunteers packed the Grand Ballroom at the Grand Pequot Tower this morning. It was a rally of sorts, to energize those involved in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Home Designs by Bruno will be working with his crew from Colchester to help build the house in Eastern Connecticut. But that's all producers from the show will say right now - a family in Eastern Connecticut will have a new home for the holidays.
"You get a real good feeling when you're doing this and life is a little short, I think to just look at money and everything else so when it was offered it was like, well sure," said Bruno Hayn from Home Designs by Bruno.
And it seems with the tough economy, the show is being flooded with requests.
"You don't need us. You don't need Ty or Hollywood or cameras to change someone's life in your own neighborhood. We get anywhere from a 1,000 to 3,000 applications in a day. Ten to fifteen thousand people a week contact us, but we can only help 22 families across this great nation. One thing we like to do is bring people together that we can't help but they can help," said Conrad Ricketts, executive producer for Extreme Home Makeover.
So far, the show has renovated 135 homes, including one in Bridgeport.
