Bridgeport (WTNH) - A high school brawl that sent four students to the hospital has school officials beefing up security at Bridgeport's Harding High School today.

Five students were arrested in yesterday's melee. The chief of school security describes the suspects as one juvenile the others 16 and 17 year olds. The brawl may have been sparked a fight in the neighborhood that spilled into the school.

Harding has been riddled with incidents. Last month, a 17-year-old was arrested for bringing an unloaded gun and a four inch knife into the school. The teen apparently slipped through a side door to get past security.

There are metal detectors at Harding High School, and though no guns and knives were found yesterday authorities are looking into whether someone brought in brass knuckles.

One of the students injured had cuts to his forehead. The others were treated at nearby hospitals.

All of those arrested face criminal charges. No names were available.
