Voluntown (WTNH) - The excitement is building in Voluntown. Crews are working quickly to make sure the Extreme Makeover home is ready for a family's return later today.
Dozens of volunteers and organizations pitched in over the past few days to help with the Girard family's new home, but Mother Nature was not so kind.
Lead builder Bruno Hayn told The Day of New London newspaper the "weather was kicking their ass." Since the build began, crews have had to deal with snow, freezing temperatures, gusty winds and rain.
The weather put them hours behind schedule and has them racing to the finish.
The Girard family is expected to be home around 2:00 p.m.
We're told all are welcome to view the big reveal.
Shuttles buses will be leaving parking lot 10 from Foxwoods Resort Casino throughout the day.
