Stratford (WTNH) - A group of Delta Air Lines workers and baggage handlers at Bradley International Airport have been arrested on charges related of stealing items from travelers' bags.

A six-month investigation by state troopers revealed items were stolen such as laptops, flat screen TV's, cameras, iPods, and GPS units. Also taken were five foot tall wooden carved African masks, jewelry, watches and earrings.

"I can't believe it, in the sense that the largest ring is right here in Hartford," Ed Forfa, a traveler from Lee, Massachusetts, said. "You would think Atlanta, Chicago, New York something like that with all the traffic."

State police arrested:

  • Angel Rodriguez, 27, Westfield Mass. (Delta Global Services)
  • Gabriel Serrano, 20, Springfield, Mass. (Delta Global Services)
  • Marc Italia, 49, Middletown, Conn. (Delta Global Services)
  • Trevor Brown, 38, Hartford, Conn. (Delta)
  • Ismael Amaro, 43, Hartford, Conn. (Family member)
  • Jervis Weaver, 28, Hartford, Conn. (Delta Global Services)
  • Nelson Torres, 33, Hartford, Conn. (Delta Global Services)
  • Lamar Campbell, 23, Hartford, Conn. (Delta Global Services)
  • Lisa Ramirez, 22, Broad Brook, Conn. (Delta)
  • Corey Roy, 26, Manchester, Conn. (Delta Global Services)
  • Marcus Austin-Casares, 25, Broad Brook, Conn. (Delta Global Services)

The charges vary per person, and range from larceny and conspiracy to burglary and receiving a bribe, as well as evidence tampering.

Since travelers are no longer allowed to lock their luggage, it makes the possibility to have items stolen that much easier.

"It's pretty sad that people would go through traveler's luggage like that," said Forfa.

State police said more arrests are expected.
