Windsor Locks (WTNH) - Wild sex allegations have landed a number of people in legal trouble. The case is stemming from a "swingers night" party at a local hotel. There are now two couples charged in this case along with the owner of the hotel and operator of the hotel bar. But watch out, said one of the attorneys today, there are a lot of couples from around Connecticut that may become caught up in this embarrassing case.
David Shadowfax and his wife Tania appeared in Enfield Superior Court. Both pleaded not guilty to charges including obscenity and public indecency.
It's alleged the couple, who live in Madison, attended a "Swingers" party at the Beverly Hill Suites in Windsor Locks along with 60 to 70 other people. But the attorney representing the couple, along with the lawyers hired by the hotel and the hotel bar, mocked the police case.
"I find it amusing, I think this sends a message to everyone in Connecticut, the City of Windsor Locks must be the safest place in Connecticut with absolutely no crime if the local law enforcement in Windsor Locks have time to arrest people for things that occur in private," Pat Brown, defense attorney, said.
But authorities charge there was nothing private about what happened in the hotel bar. They're alleging that undercover officers observed sexual activity taking place in the open, among multiple adults.
It's charges defense attorneys emphatically deny.
"The people who came there rented rooms to engage in private, consensual behavior, in rooms which they are entitled to do... whether or not in the rooms of a house or rooms of a hotel," Aaron Romano, defense attorney, said.
"There are no allegations of animals being involved, children under age being involve, people being forced to do anything they didn't want to do," Brown said.
The couple was released without bond today. They will be back in court next month.
