STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — Former Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele (feh-DEHL'-ee) says he has filed the necessary paperwork to run for mayor of Stamford.

The Republican, who served in the administration of Gov. M. Jodi Rell from 2007 to 2011, said Monday the city's economic future is at stake in this year's municipal election and he has the experience and vision to lead Stamford.

Last month, Republican Mayor Michael Pavia announced he would not seek a second term. Pavia was elected in 2009.

Fedele, a former state representative and member of Stamford's Board of Representatives, is the founder and CEO of Pinnacle Group, a national information technology firm based in Stamford. He ran for governor in 2010.

Earlier this month, Democratic state Rep. William Tong announced a run for mayor.
