CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is unveiling his new energy strategy for Connecticut.

The Democrat is expected to discuss how the proposal will create jobs, lower costs for consumers and preserve the environment. Malloy is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the Connecticut Business and Industry Association's 2012 Business Energy Conference on Friday.

In 2011, the General Assembly passed legislation overhauling the state's energy policy following years of complaints from businesses and consumers about the high cost of electricity.

The changes included merging the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Public Utility Control in order to centralize state energy policy, focus on energy efficiency and reduce rates.
