Conn. House passes juror accommodation bill

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The Connecticut House of Representatives has passed a bill that would expand accommodations for breastfeeding jurors.

State Representatives voted 140-to-11 in favor of a modified version of the measure Friday. It now goes to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's desk.

The bill would require the state's judicial branch to provide information on its website for breastfeeding women regarding jury service postponement and contact information for these women to request reasonable accommodations.

Additionally, the jury administrator would be required to train for his or her staff and court staff on the policy for breastfeeding jurors, including accommodations for them.

Any individual called for jury duty in Connecticut may postpone his or her service up to 10 months.
