Conn. lawmakers react to Ambassador Chris Stevens death

Below are statements from Governor Dannel Malloy and members of Connecticut's delegation in Washington to the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and other Americans in Libya:

Gov. Malloy directed all flags to fly at half-staff until sunset on Sept. 16th in honor of Stevens and the other victims.

"Our prayers and deepest sympathies are with the families, friends and colleagues of Ambassador Stevens and the American personnel who were killed in this brutal attack," the governor said in a statement. Full Statement

Via Twitter , Sen. Joseph Lieberman said "Amb. #ChrisStevens was one of our bravest and best diplomats. His death is a terrible loss for the US and #Libya."

And this is from a statement co-signed by Sen. Lieberman, Sen. John McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham:

"There is still much we do not know about what happened in Benghazi yesterday. What is clear, however, is that the attackers must be apprehended and punished. We appreciate that senior Libyan leaders have condemned these cowardly attacks, and we now look to the Libyan government to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice, and that U.S. diplomats are protected. We have confidence that our own government will provide all necessary assistance to this end." Full Statement

Sen. Richard Blumenthal also expressed outrage at the "brutal murder":

"These brave diplomats were patriots and professionals putting their lives on the line to advance American ideals and interests. This vital work is done daily by countless American diplomats abroad serving in every corner of the world." Full Statement

"My heart goes out to the families of those we lost yesterday. And though I am outraged that representatives of our peaceful mission would be attacked and killed, I remain committed to seeing a Libya that embraces democracy and freedom for all its people." Full Statement

"Thoughts, prayers go out to families of Americans killed in Libya during difficult time. I condemn this deplorable violence."
