HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Election officials say voter turnout is heavy across Connecticut as people line up to cast ballots for president and other contests including one of the most costly U.S. Senate battles in the country.
Spokesman Av Harris at the secretary of the state's office says it does not appear the outages and other effects of Superstorm Sandy are impeding voters. He said the state is on track for turnout of 75 to 80 percent of registered voters.
Harris said Tuesday there was a problem with lines lasting an hour or longer in West Hartford. He said the number of polling places there was reduced and not enough staff was hired, but he said the secretary of the state's office was working with local registrars to bring on more help.
