EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Connecticut typically votes Democratic in Presidential elections and that trend is reinforced by the current polls.

According to the latest Quinnipiac poll President Barack Obama leads Republican hopeful Governor Mitt Romney by 12 percentage points in the state. That poll was released before Wednesday night.

From the last thing they watched last night, to the first cup of coffee, News 8 went to the East Haven Dunkin' Donuts to see what folks thought about the first national debate.

"[Obama] needs another 4 years, he's trying to clean up the Bush mess," Carol Onofrio, a Connecticut voter opined.

When asked if she was undecided before the debate, said said, "No, I know it's Obama all the way."

Others, however, are planning to give their support for Mr. Romney.

"I've decided not to vote for Obama, said William Kane, another Connecticut voter. "What we need in Washington is businessmen, not career politicians."

News 8 caught up with Terry Ayrton and his wife reading their morning paper.

"We usually have a cup of coffee inside, but it's packed, so we're forced out here," said Ayrton, a Connecticut voter. "I think no matter who gets in, more people will find jobs and both [candidates] will take credit for it."

Some Connecticut voters, however, still remain decided.

"No, I didn't know who I was going to vote for," said Adrian Cintafio, about how she felt before the debate. "Romney hit on a lot of good points and I'm surprised Obama didn't feed back on them."

She and other undecided voters will have two more debates to make up their minds. The next one is in New York, only about two weeks away.
