HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill is reminding adult residents of the 24th General Assembly District that time is running out to register to vote in the upcoming special election.
Merrill says eligible voters in parts of New Britain and Newington have until Monday, Jan. 9, to register to vote in the Jan. 10 special election.
Voters are choosing a replacement for former state Rep. Timothy O'Brien, who resigned on Nov. 15 after he was elected mayor of New Britain.
O'Brien, a Democrat, had represented the seat in the House of Representatives since 2003.
Voters can visit the secretary of the state's website at www.sots.ct.gov to see if they are registered to vote and to find their polling place.
