Gov Malloy talks about energy

(WTNH) -- Governor Dannel Malloy is pushing his new energy plan which would make natural gas available to more home and businesses in Connecticut.

The Governor spent some time talking about the plan with Chris and Anne on Good Morning Connecticut this morning. He says the initial investment of getting people hooked up will pay for itself in the long run.

"If we can spread (the initial cost) over, say, seven or eight years of bills so it's just a slight additional change representing only a fraction of the savings over oil, then they're going to do it."

The Governor says his plan would create jobs and be better for the environment.

The head of Connecticut's Independent Petroleum Association says the Governor shouldn't be "picking winners" and focusing all its attention on natural gas.
