GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- In an attempt to draw more tourism dollars into Connecticut, the Governor is hitting some popular summer time hot spots.
His tour coincides with the state's new tourism ad campaign.
The governor's tourism tour takes him center stage at the Eugene O'Neill Theater.
"Audiences come here and you see the work born," said Preston Whiteway. "The actors still have the scripts in their hand because the work is changing on an hourly basis."
Whiteway says some of the works born in the barn end up on the Great White Way. Malloy's tour highlights the Waterford workshop and several other attractions promoted in the state's "Still Revolutionary" marketing campaign.
"If you take a train at Penn Station or Grand Central Station you're gonna see promotion of Connecticut," said Governor Dannel Malloy.
Malloy says for every dollar invested in tourism there is a three dollar return.
The Governor is making six stops in this tour and he chose a good time, lunchtime to stop at Abbott's Lobster in the Rough.
It is known for its beautiful views and hot lobster roll.
"How is it," asked News 8's Tina Detelj.
"It's great, this is my first time at Abbott's," Malloy said. "I'm having clam chowder, original recipe from 1947."
There's also a new recipe for another old favorite: the cole slaw.
"It's made with our own house dressing, which is a mayonnaise and sour cream base," said Deirdre Mears, Abbott's Lobster in the Rough.
However, it's what the Governor didn't eat that was taking center stage. A 15-pounder, that was pardoned and released, right off the restaurant's dock.
"He's a happy camper."
