HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The House of Representatives has approved two wide-ranging bills that include details of the revised state budget, as well as legislation about roll-your-own tobacco that's at the center of a federal probe into House Speaker Chris Donovan's congressional campaign.
The House gave final legislative approval late Tuesday night to one of the two massive bills. The second awaited final action in the Senate, which was still debating. The governor is expected to sign the bills into law.
The two bills spell out the details of many items included in the revised $20.1 billion budget passed earlier this year. There are also proposals that failed during the regular session, such as a job creation bill that extends state financial assistance to additional small businesses.
Donovan did not preside over Tuesday's House debate.
