BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — The retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman is visiting four Connecticut diners as part of his farewell diner tour.

The 2000 Democratic vice presidential nominee is retiring in January after serving 24 years in the Senate. Now an independent, Lieberman has been visiting diners across the state since he was first elected in 1988.

He has visited about 130 diners in more than 60 Connecticut cities and towns.

On Wednesday, Lieberman is scheduled to meet with constituents at White's Diner in Bridgeport, starting at 8 a.m. He is then expected to make stops at the Athenian Diner in New Haven, Norm's Diner in Groton and Shady Glen in Manchester.
