Cromwell, Conn. (WTNH) - Gov. Dannel Malloy gave the keynote speech at the Connecticut Future Business Leaders of America's conference Monday.
Cheshire High School student Hasher Nisar worked on Malloy's campaign, and like a good businessman, he used his connections to get the governor to speak at the conference.
"We were the reason that most of the stuff got done because of canvasing and phone banking. Like literally, we would sit down and make 200 calls a day, or go out and knock on like 1,200 doors," Nisar said.
About 800 students are getting an early start navigating the rough seas of business.
"Especially in today's economy, I think anything you can do, in addition to what we learn in school is really valuable," said Ridgefield High student Matthew Burdumy.
The students hope to take the lessons they learned at the conference and in their studies and parlay that into a successful business career.
