WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Gov. Dannel Malloy will sign into law a bill intended to better prepare the state, local towns and cities, and utility companies to gear up for natural disasters.
The governor is scheduled to sign this bill right here at city hall in West Hartford. The town took a hit about nine months ago hit during the October Nor'easter. Power lines were ripped down, trees toppled, and folks where without powers for weeks.
This, combined with a similar situation after Tropical Storm Irene in August, 2011, prompted state lawmakers to take action. The law is intended to open up communication between the state, towns and utilities, improve training and strengthen infrastructure.
The bill signing will take place at 10:00 a.m.
