HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is traveling to Washington this week to deliver an address at a conference on energy policy.

The two-day workshop beginning Thursday is intended to explore how state and federal governments can together pursue environmentally-friendly policies.

The other speakers include Gina McCarthy, an assistant administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Air and Radiation, and Delaware Gov. Jack Markell.

The speakers are expected to address issues including clean-energy transportation initiatives and industrial emissions reduction policies.

President Barack Obama used his State of the Union speech last week to call for action on a broad agenda that included climate change, the economy, guns, immigration and taxes.
