HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon has also qualified for a November ballot listing on the Independent Party line.
The Secretary of the State's office announced Tuesday that McMahon qualified. She had needed 7,500 petition signatures.
McMahon's campaign moved for the qualification after her Democratic opponent, U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, received the endorsement of the Working Families Party that also gives him an extra line of the ballot.
Cross-endorsement of candidates by the smaller parties also has given them more grass-roots help.
McMahon and Murphy are seeking the seat left open by the retirement of Sen. Joseph Lieberman.
