McMahon promises no more than 2 terms if elected

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Former wrestling executive Linda McMahon, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Connecticut, says she will limit herself to two terms if she is elected Nov. 2.

McMahon, who is in a close race with Democratic Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, says she would not seek more than two terms and would not run for a second term unless she believes she had been effective in her first six-year term.

McMahon appeared Sunday on ABC's "This Week With Christiane Amanpour."

Blumenthal told Amanpour his lead evaporated due to McMahon's self-financed campaign, which he called a "$50 million negative attack machine."

Questioned about criticism that World Wrestling Entertainment degrades women in the ring, McMahon said programming changed to PG, or parental guidance suggested. It previously was TV14, or "parents strongly cautioned."
