HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill will be selecting voting precincts for an audit of this year's presidential election.

On Monday, she's scheduled to randomly select 10 percent of the state's 773 voting precincts for the audit.

State law requires that printed ballots from the optical scan machines be manually audited by registrars of voters or town clerks in 10 percent of the precincts.

Election officials said there was heavy turnout across the state Election Day. But no major problems were reported, despite lines that had some voters waiting as long as 45 minutes.

Besides the presidency, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and General Assembly seats were up for grabs.
