HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Democratic Senate candidate Chris Murphy is voicing support for legislation that would reverse a 2009 U.S. Supreme Court decision that makes it harder to prove that employees are being discriminated against because of their age.

During a telephone forum, U.S. Rep. Murphy told Connecticut AARP members Friday that he's heard a growing number of complaints from constituents who said they were let go because of their age, but were unable to prove it.

Republican Linda McMahon, who participated in an identical call Thursday, did not take a position on the Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act.

McMahon did say she opposes discrimination of any kind.

Seniors are considered a key constituency in this close Senate race. AARP says its 600,000 members make up 40 percent of the state's registered voters.
