HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A task force is beginning the job of examining Connecticut's liquor laws and coming up with possible recommended changes.
The 15-member Competitive Alcohol Liquor Pricing Task Force met for the first time on Wednesday.
The group is creating four subcommittees focusing on liquor taxes; quantity and volume discounting; existing permit restrictions; and minimum pricing and posting laws. Other issues, such as distribution territories, will also likely be discussed over the coming months.
The panel has until Jan. 1 to come up with recommendations for the General Assembly to consider in the new legislative session.
The group was created earlier this year when state lawmakers passed compromise legislation allowing Sunday retail liquor sales in Connecticut from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at package stores and supermarkets.
