(WTNH) -- Voters started lining up at the polls early to cast their ballot in the Presidential, Senate and Congressional races across Connecticut.
The polls close at 8:00 p.m. tonight
At one polling place in Branford at 6:00 a.m., there was about a 20 minute wait to vote when the polls opened. Comments on Twitter seemed to indicate a lot of early voting at some locations. "voting in Meriden, moving at a snails place people walking out before voting," one person said . "...in East Haven! Not too bad of lines, but busy for 6:30am!" wrote another person . "long in Norwalk never seen it this busy at 6 a.m.," said a third person .
Despite the effects of storm Sandy, only two polling places in Connecticut has to be moved because of storm damage. One precinct in Bridgeport and another in New London were moved.
The Secretary of the State's office said yesterday more than 200,000 new voters have registered since the first of the year.
If you encounter a problem at the polls, call the Election Day Hotline 1-866-SEEC-INFO (1-866-733-2463) or send an email to elections@ct.gov . You don't have to leave your name, but be sure to indicate the city/town, the polling location, and be as specific as possible.
News 8 will have special Connecticut election coverage beginning at 8:00 p.m. on MyTV9, and streaming live on WTNH.com.
