Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) - Some seniors in Connecticut may soon be paying more for their prescription drugs after the state legislature passed a bill to cut funding for prescription assistance for those already on Medicare.
The ConnPACE program, administered by the Connecticut Department of Social Services, serves Connecticut's senior citizens and people with disabilities by providing state-funded prescription drug assistance. But effective July 1st, ConnPACE will only be available to individuals who are NOT eligible for Medicare.
The news has some seniors scrambling.
"The system don't treat us seniors right," said Eula Pendaris of West Haven.
But there is help available. Those on ConnPACE and Medicare are urged to apply for the Medicare Savings Program, which may help fill the gap. If you are currently on ConnPACE and NOT on Medicare, you will not see any changes. For more information, please visit www.connpace.com/changes
