Super PAC dumps money into Conn. state Senate race

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A super PAC called Voters for Good Government is spending nearly $40,000 in advertising opposing an incumbent Democratic state senator in Connecticut.

A document filed Thursday with the State Elections Enforcement Commission shows that Thomas Peterffy, a Greenwich billionaire and founder of Interactive Brokers Group, is the sole contributor to the political action committee.

Peterffy, a native of Hungary, is currently appearing in a TV ad discussing his personal experiences with socialism and urging Americans to vote Republican. He has said he plans to pour between $5 million and $10 million into the national broadcast campaign, which is appearing mostly on cable and network stations in pivotal states.

Records show Voters for Good Government has spent $37,969 on ads opposing Manchester state Sen. Steve Cassano in the 4th Senatorial District.
