HARTFORD, onn. (WTNH) - A discussion about violence against women and what is being done to minimize it will be held on Monday and hosted by Congressman John B. Larson.
Larson will be joining with the Executive Director of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Karen Jormoc. The discussion is important because it touches on topics regarding the importance of the Violence Against Women Act. The law was passed in 1994, and is set to expire at the end of this year.
Reauthorization of the act is important so that there is law enforcement prohibiting domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
Congressman Larson was honored as a member of the "First 100," an award presented by the CCADV to the first 100 men who have shown a commitment to ending domestic violence in Connecticut.
The event begins at 10:30a.m. at the Legislative Office at 300 Capitol Avenue.
