Hartford, Conn (WTNH) - Governor Dannel Malloy sat down with News 8's Chief Capital Correspondent Mark Davis to answer some of the hundreds of questions submitted by News 8 viewers.
Taxes, spending, and the state employee union began the conversation. Robert from Madison asked the Governor if he was prepared to start laying off state employees if union concessions don't come through. Governor Malloy quickly responded "Yes," and then went on to explain his answer.
Transportation was also a major topic, with questions about gasoline price gouging at gas stations around the state, why the state is investing in high-speed rail, and do we really need a commuter bus route between Hartford and New Britain.
One of the featured video questions for 'Ask the Governor' dealt with Senate Bill 1015, the legalization of medicinal marijuana. Governor Malloy said that he agreed with the general concept of the bill.
When asked the classic question "Red Sox or Yankees", Malloy, a Stamford native, admitted he is a Yankees fan, but also said his home is split, because his wife is originally from Needham Mass, and a Red Sox fan.
