HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Democrats in Connecticut's state Senate have re-elected Donald Williams Jr. as Senate president and Martin Looney as majority leader.

The selections were made at a caucus Thursday afternoon in Hartford.

Williams, of Brooklyn, has served as president of the Senate since 2004. He said he and his colleagues will continue their efforts on behalf of middle-class families.

Looney, of New Haven, has been majority leader since 2003.

The two will be formally re-elected at the start of the next legislative session in January.
