Shelton (AP) - Houston Texans quarterback Dan Orlovsky will have his No. 7 retired by his former high school.

Orlovsky starred at Shelton High School from 1998-2000 and was named the Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year during his senior season.

Orlovsky went on the play quarterback for the University of Connecticut, leading the Huskies to their first bowl appearance, a victory in the 2004 Motor City Bowl.

He was drafted in 2005 by Detroit and started seven games last season for the 0-16 Lions.

The Shelton Board of Education says the ceremony will likely be in June.
