(WTNH) - Governor Rell took time to talk about UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun's outburst at a weekend press conference.
Calhoun took exception to a question from a freelance journalist who asked whether the coach should give back some of his $1.6 million salary.
The Governor called it an "embarrassing display" that Calhoun would probably like to do-over.
But she also said that he's right. "You know, I think everyone is in this and we're all going to share the pain. But, you know, it's a contract," Governor Rell said. "He has a contract with the state. I think he brought up a valid point of what they bring into the state."
Calhoun is the highest-paid state employee.
