VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Every year shoppers usually wait until Black Friday to get the big bargains, but this year lots of folks are starting even earlier.
In the warmth of the afternoon sun, Dennis waited.
"How long have you been hanging out here by your car," asked News 8's Jamie Muro.
"More than an hour," Dennis replied with a laugh. "She promised to buy me something, so I should come out and try it!"
"We got Legos for my little brother," one boy said.
Christmas shopping is already in full swing. Employees tell News 8 there were almost 300 people at the door Thursday morning, filled with Thanksgiving Day cheer.
"They were tired, but they were in fairly good moods," two K-Mart workers said.
"What have you been doing for the past hour," asked Muro.
"Steaming, getting mad," Dennis said laughing. "I was getting mad."
He may be one of the few. The manager told us sales are already up this year over last. Deals are just too tempting.
Perhaps a positive sign of what's to come.
"Oh my, she comin'!"
K-Mart proved to be an oasis of goodies for Evan, so distracting, in fact, she forgot about waiting Dennis.
"What did you do to your poor husband," asked Muro. "He's been waiting here an hour for you, he didn't know what was going on."
Give her a break, this type of frenzy only happens once a year.
"Did you get some good things," asked Muro.
"Yeah," Evan.
"Did you get him something," questioned Muro.
"Yes," she replied.
"You did, oh good," Muro said.
