Kloter farms reopens 1 year after fire

ELLINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- There is new life for a business in Ellington, exactly one year after a devastating fire.

The Kloter Farms showroom was destroyed in a fire on June 29th, 2011, but the store that sells fine furniture, sheds, and playscapes has miraculously bounced back.

And Friday, the Ellington Fire Department helped raised a new weather vane on top of the newly-rebuilt building.

"It's also a great excuse for everybody to come together and recognize and reflect on all the work that each of us individually and we as a team have put into making this uh, sort of resurrection," said Todd Root, Kloter Farms.

"Unfortunately, we were here when the cupola fell into the building and now we're putting it back up," said Assistant Chief Gary Feldman, Ellington Fire Department. "Something like this event, that's the icing on the cake. We don't get enough icing on the cake."

The business is hoping to have a grand re-opening later this summer.

Investigators believe lightning may have caused the fire.
