Pedestrian killed while crossing the street in Stafford

STAFFORD, Conn. (WTNH)-- A person was killed after being hit by a car, while crossing a street, in Stafford on Monday night.

Police say Eric Watkinson, 24, of Stafford, was driving northbound on Rt 30, at West Shore Drive, when he hit the pedestrian who was crossing the dark roadway during a heavy rainstorm.

The pedestrian was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital where they died from their injuries. The identity of the person is being withheld until their next of kin is notified.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle and the case remains under investigation.
