STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Irish pianist and educator Brid Grant has been named dean of the University of Connecticut's School of Fine Arts.

Grant had been the dean and director of the Dublin Institute of Technology's College of Arts and Tourism in Ireland, where she also had served as head of the school's Conservatory of Music and Drama.

Grant replaces David Woods who is retiring after 12 years at UConn.

Grant says one of her top priorities will be promoting the work of UConn's musicians, performers and artists in an effort to enhance the school's reputation.
