Stafford, Conn. (WTNH) - Connecticut state police closed a section of Route 19 in Stafford after a body was found just across the border in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts state police in Sturbridge say a person was found dead today along the road on their side of the border. Police say it could be a hit-and-run but they do not know for sure.

Since Route 19 is a major road between Massachusetts and Connecticut in that area, CSP was asked to block off the Road in Connecticut. It is closed at New City Road. The Connecticut Department of Transportation says it could be for up to 12 hours.

The road is closed in both directions in Massachusetts.
