STORRS, Conn. (AP) - A committee set up by University of Connecticut President Susan Herbst is out with some recommendations on how to make the state's flagship university look a bit nicer.
The Campus Appearance committee is calling for a new "front door" to the school, better marking the entrance to campus from Route 195.
Among its other suggestions are: eliminating some modular buildings near the campus center, repairing some stairs and fences, putting more parking and seating at the school Dairy Bar. It also recommends starting a public service campaign to urge people to stay on the sidewalks.
Steve Kremer, the school's assistant vice president for student affairs, says the report will result in a permanent working group dedicated to improving the appearance of campus.
