SOMERS, Conn. (AP) — No injuries were reported after a massive overnight fire at a vacant mill building in Somers.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at the five-story Somersville Mill building at about 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, and departments from multiple communities were soon on the scene.
Two homes near the mill were initially evacuated, but residents were allowed to return hours later.
Connecticut Light & Power also cut electricity to about 100 people in nearby neighborhoods as firefighters worked to control the blaze.
The building is in the historic section of the borough of Somersville and once housed workers who produced clothing and fabric.
Fire officials were investigating the cause of the blaze Saturday.
