Wrong way driver kills another motorist

Vernon, Conn. (WTNH) – A wrong way driver on I-84 westbound caused a fatal crash early Sunday morning.

Police received numerous 911 calls about a wrong way driver traveling east in the HOV lane of I-84 west in the town of Vernon.

State troopers said that Giselle Garcia, who was driving in the wrong direction, struck Jeanne Krapf  head-on under the exit 65 overpass.

Krapf was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Giselle Garcia was transported by Lifestar to Hartford Hospital.

There was no word on the condition of the wrong way driver or what caused her to drive in the wrong direction.
