New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - The aftermath of the Manchester Massacre is the subject of a Thursday night "Where We Stand" commentary.
Without a doubt, it has been a difficult week in our state.
The run-up to the political primaries was abruptly pushed out of the headlines on Tuesday. That happened when one man took the lives of eight co-workers, and then ended his own life inside of the Manchester workplace where he had been let go minutes before.
Among his final words, recorded in a 911 call, Omar Thornton said he had been racially harassed at work. That charge has been emphatically denied by his employer and was never reported to his union.
Even with time and a full investigation, we may never know for certain if that harassment actually took place.
What we do know is that nine people are gone. We know that friends and families are now left to bury their loved ones and cope with the grief of their stunning loss.
We know that we can only try to be as supportive and sympathetic as we can for all those who have been touched by this tragedy. You have our deepest sympathies.
We know that we have to try as hard as we can to figure out just how to prevent something like this from ever, ever happening again.
