Canterbury, Conn. (WTNH) - Two people were injured after a SUV smashed into a grocery store in Canterbury.

It happened at the Better Valu Supermarket on North Canterbury Road around 11am.

Allen Davis heard the accident. He said, "h boy could I ever hear it. The minute I heard that I was saying I don't know what but somebody's in trouble."

Davis described the frantic scene as people tried to prevent more damage and danger for one of the victims already injured.

He said, "Another guy standing there yelling at him put it in park hold the brakes on hold the brake on he says don't do a thing! There was a lady on the ground her legs were sticking underneath wheels of the SUV."

State police tells us the victims, a man and a woman, were transported to the hospital. No word on their injuires.

The store manager had no comment but neighbors say it was a scary scene.

Davis said, "This is the worse thing that's happen to the store since I"ve been here."

All of the damaage is to the front entryway to the store. The main part of the store is untouched so they are able to reopen after the mess is cleaned up.
