Hampton, Conn. (WTNH) - State Police tell News 8 that they were called to the area around 7am Wednesday.

The victim's pick-up truck was stuck in the brook. He has not been identified.

"The truck was still running this morning and he got out of the truck sometime during the night and probably slipped on a wet rock hit his head and drowned in the brook," said Don Williams, who lives nearby.

Williams says he and some of his tenants who live around this pond had noticed the truck's lights were on last night and into the early morning hours but they didn't check it out after dawn. That's when they found the man who had been there throughout the frigid night.

"I didn't go down there and I asked the tenants not to go down there because the guy was drunk and I didn't want to encounter him," Williams said.

Williams said the man's house was just through the woods where he was heading and he would often come by asking if could use William's land as a through way.

At this time State Police are treating the incident as an 'untimely death' and are still investigating.
