Fatal car accident in Hampton

Hampton, Conn. (WTNH) - State Police are investigating a car accident in Hampton that killed one person.

The accident happened on Pomfret Road (Route 97) in the area Kimball Hill Road around 10:45am. The road was closed in the area for a couple of hours.

Police somehow lost control and crashed into a utility pole.

The passenger who died has been identified as 88-year old John Grenier.
