Sterling (WTNH) - A Sterling man is combining the Internet with the traditional spirit of holiday giving.
Barry Goldberg gets a dozen e-mails and phone calls each day in response to his Craigslist posting.
"My goal is to give away ten turkeys a day up until Thanksgiving," he said.
And he's had a lot of turkey takers - he's already given away 56, trimmings and all.
Bonnie Pellett came by Monday morning to pick up her bird.
"Very excited. It's a blessing in disguise because I'm unemployed and my whole family is going through some hard times," she said.
News Channel 8 first met Barry last year when he was handing out gift cards to Walmart.
"I kind of wanted to avoid Walmart and the whole corporate
structure and just reach out and touch people directly," he said.
"How much is this costing you?"
"I'm not even keeping track," he responded.
Barry used to own a mortgage company but has now been out of work for 16 months.
"We did pretty well when business was booming so it's nice to be able to give back," he said.
