Man struck, killed by train

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man has been stuck and killed by a train in Plainfield.

It happened around 1:15 a.m. Thursday in the area of Depot Road and Moosup Pond Road.

This incident involved a Providence & Worcester freight train, not a passenger train, traveling from Worcester to Plainfield.

Authorities say the man was lying on the tracks when he was hit. The man's identity has not been released.

It's unclear why he was on the tracks.
