(WTNH) - A Connecticut pilot may have saved lives during an emergency landing in Rhode Island this weekend.
Doug Durand, 44-years-old, of Danielson is a 20-year-pilot. He was pulling an advertising banner on his way back to Westerly Airport from New Haven on Saturday when his one-seat, single-propeller plane lost power.
He managed to jettison the banner. He later hit three fence railings while landing but avoided a house and utility wires.
There were some damages to Durand's plane but he walked away from the accident without a scratch.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
